Purley Full House Renovation & Extension
A contemporary full house renovation, rear extension and loft conversion transform this Purley semi-detached house, creating a vibrant and luxurious home for a large family.
Interior design has been carefully considered across the three floors of the house; The traditional architraves have been replaced with contemporary full-height doors and clean lines. A rich palette of oak, midnight blue tones, terrazzo and satin brass characterise the materiality of the Purley house. Acoustic wood panelling is accented within each space and wall niches are appropriated with feature lighting or clever storage solutions.
The heart of the home is the open-plan kitchen, living and dining room; A large kitchen island stands in the centre of the kitchen on one side, whilst the living area is to the other, focussed towards an elevated contemporary fireplace and wall-mounted TV.
Joinery wraps around the living room and dining area, providing additional seating, shelves and integrated storage. As the joinery meets the dining area, it evolves into a curved seating booth; The shape of the dining booth offers flexibility for large dinner parties and makes use of the existing structural walls in the centre of the house.
Cleverly located storage is situated across the full house, from the living room benches, shelves within wall niches and a boot room with a dedicated cloak cupboard and bench for each child.
A playful approach has been taken within the design of the children’s bedrooms, making best use of the unique existing features of the house; An abstract wall mural accents the roof geometry of the loft bedroom walls, cleverly concealing the wardrobe doors. A secret tunnel through the wardrobe takes you to a playroom space within the eaves.
